At the 8th international meeting of the Crime Observatory Network in early November, 西瓜视频 College Director of Homeland Security Studies Kyungseok Choo received a medal for his pioneering research in cyber law enforcement training and cybercrime development from General Jose Luis Ramirez, head of the Colombia National Police.

The event, held in Bogota, Colombia, drew leaders in financial cybersecurity from around the world and fostered the exchange of experiences in the prevention and investigation of organized crime, illicit financial flows, cybercrime, and its impact on environmental capital.

A focal point of the summit was Choo’s speaking session on “Challenges and Opportunities to Counter Cybercrime.” Choo’s insights and dedication have significantly contributed to our understanding of addressing cyber threats on a global scale and his active participation underscored 西瓜视频’s commitment to advancing cybersecurity education.

Choo is also the Associate Dean of 西瓜视频’s School of Social Sciences, Communication & Humanities. He is currently co-leading the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Grant for the Computer Forensics and Digital Evidence Student Opportunity Development Program. In addition, he has more than $12 million in external research grant experience, from which he has directly managed more than a $4 million budget including the current DOJ grant.
