Beverly, Mass. – On Thursday, June 2, the 西瓜视频 College Board of Trustees officially voted in a new member, Margaret “Peggy” Janes. “We are excited to welcome Peggy as the newest member of the Board of Trustees,” said 西瓜视频 College President Steven R. DiSalvo, Ph.D. “Peggy brings with her a long dedicated history to education and a wealth of experience in the business and philanthropic sector.”
Peggy spent her 44-year career at Pfizer Inc. This afforded her many opportunities, including moving up in the organization to Director of Administrative Services for the Corporate Finance function. In this role, she supported the Vice Chairman for Finance David Shedlarz in his philanthropic endeavors for Pfizer. Together David and Peggy raised $15 million over 5 years.
Peggy was also a member of the Pfizer Global Education Initiative Team, whose mission was to educate children around the world on the opportunities for a career in science through the SMART program (Science and Math are Really Terrific). Each year, the team created a fair with live exhibits showing how science is used in research, as well as the importance of math in scientific experiments. Peggy also worked with the City College of New York on its annual Real World Math program, which demonstrates for New York City middle school teachers how math is used in business.
Shortly before she retired, Peggy joined the board of the Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation, a non-profit devoted to helping children who have witnessed or been victims of domestic violence. She has been on this board since 2007 and has been a longtime member of the Development Committee. She currently also serves on the foundation’s Executive Committee.
Peggy also served on the Queensboro Community College Advisory Board for almost 20 years. Additionally, she was a member of the Apostles of the Sacred Heart Advisory Board in Hamden, Conn., for many years.
She attended St. John’s University and several Wharton Executive Education programs including “Managing People and Critical Thinking: Real World and Real Time Decisions.”
She resides in Fort Myers, Fla.
